Democratic Republic on January 26, 1950. Ours is a sovereign country. No one is
allowed to violate the territorial integrity of the country. People are
Sovereign. Adult franchise ensures their democratic rights. The head of the
state is an elected one. So it is a Republic.
The people are responsible citizens. Political stability is
for economic progress. Economic progress is for enduring peace. The country is
governed by the constitution which embodies the will of the people. We celebrate
the Republic Day. It is our dedication to the basic principles of democracy. We
pledge ourselves to the ideals animating our constitution. We dedicate ourselves
to communal harmony and peace.
In New Delhi the Republic Day is celebrated with pomp and
show. Republic Day parade is the highlight of the celebrations. All Indian
States and Union Territories participate in the parade. India is a mosaic of
cultures. It is cultural diversity. Indianans is the underlying refrain. A number
of foreign dignitaries grace the occasion. The President takes the salute.
Cultural pageants (tableaux) depict our cultural diversity.
Every village and town celebrates the Republic Day. Students participate
in these celebrations. They learn about our history. They are inspired by the
sacrifices of our veteran freedom fighters. History lives in the present. The celebrations
highlight our nationalism. Nationalism is our cultural humanism. It is our
dynamic peaceful co-existence.
Every citizen serves our motherland. We are grateful to
millions of freedom fighters. We think about them on holy days. Republic day is
a holy day. The memory makes us more patriotic. Independence Day and Republic
Day are our national festivals. Our constitution leads us. We follow it as
dutiful citizens.
