National Integration In India

NATIONAL INTEGRATION IN INDIA

Nation States are a modern phenomenon. Our great freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for our independence. As a result we got independence in 1947. Indian nation was born. People belonging to different clans, creeds and communities constitute our nation. There are several religious and languages.

There is cultural diversity and political plurality. Pluralism characterises our nationalism. Indianness is the underlying unity. All are Indians first. Indianness is our culture. Cultural diversity is not dichotomy. There are several divisive forces. They are communal forces. They divide people and destroy unity. There are small ethnic groups, especially in the border states of our country. These groups become the tools of our external enemies. They indulge in subversive activities.

How to root out these divisive forces? Everyone in India is an Indian. Our loyalty must be to our country first. Our T.V can play a constructive role. Radio too is a powerful mass medium. They can foster national unity. Most of the programmes can be instructive. They must show the lives of great patriots. Patriotism is our national culture. Text books at primary and secondary levels must deal with our glorious history.

Discipline is the life of democracy. Eternal vigilance is the price of democracy. Democratic institutions wither away without our honesty and hard work. “One for all and all for one” is the life breath of our unity. This spirit should be inculcated in the youth. All must strive for excellence.

The integrity of our nation can be preserved only through our collective efforts. Leaders must set an exemplary personal example. Good character alone inspires all. Honesty and integrity muster unity. National education strengthens our secularism. Professional courses create employment opportunities. They make our youth self- reliant. Thus, national integration can be realised.
