RAMZAN

Prophet the Mohammed founded the Islam. He is the greatest of the prophets. Islam believes in inner piety. God is the sovereign piety. All are sons and daughters of one god. God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Charity and compassion are the basic tents of Islam. Daily prayers have a special role in Islam. Islam is for peace and plenty.

The Id-Ul-Fitr is one of the most important festivals of Muslims. Muslims observe Roza or holy fast during Ramzan days. The Ramzan is the holy month of Muslims. Orthodox Muslims observe fast every day. They pray five times a day. Special prayers are held on Fridays. They feed the poor. Islam insists on giving alms to the poor. Part of a person’s income should be spent for charitable purposes. Nobody should starve. Islam believes in equality.

After thirty days of fast the Id is celebrated. It is a day of rejoicing. On the Ramzan day special prayers are held. Friends and relatives rejoice in the blessings of god. They feast together. Gifts are exchanged. Greetings are expressed with a hearty hug. The rich and the poor, the literates and illiterates taste the bliss of the Ramzan spirit.

Muslims use itr (scant). Children take delight in their new colourful robes. Happiness is every-where. Muslims go to the Idgah for prayers. Special shelters are provided before every Idgah. All prayers are for universal peace and social amity. The Ramzan stands for peace and unity. Unity is universal fraternity.

Sweets are distributed liberally. All eat the best food. They share their joy with friends and relatives. The followers of Islam believe in personal piety and probity. It is the inner piety which gets us the blessings of the god. Celebrating the Id is the renewal of our faith in the Divine Blessings.
