TEACHER’S DAY
There are several professions and occupations. Everybody has
to earn his livelihood. All professions are complementary. Teaching is also a
profession. But it has its own distinction. Teachers are mature learners. Learning
is creativity.
Dr. S. Radha Krishnan was a great teacher. He was also a
great author. He served India in different capacities. He was our Philosopher
President. He was born on Sept. 5, 1880. So every year September 5th
is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. Every educational institution celebrates this
day. Eminent teachers are honoured and rewarded.
The Teacher’s Day highlights the lofty role of teachers in
our society. Great teachers inspire the youth with their personalities. Personality
connotes intellectual abilities and moral fibre. Moral fibre refers to the
person’s ability to inspire the students with inner nobility. Such teachers
bring about silent revolution in the society for its greater good. This is the
arduous role of teachers.
The society has a responsibility in creating favourable
atmosphere. It has to encourage good teachers. It has to draw the best out of
every teacher. Human resource development lies in scientific planning. Such a
planning alone moulds the teachers into live forces to fight all darkness
(evils) non-violently. The society should not treat teachers as syllabus
covering machines.
Education is for growth rooted in our inner nobility. Teacher’s
Day reminds everyone of such lofty goal. This is the significance of the
Teacher’s Day.
