Science and technology shape our age. There are billions of machines. They are of varied sizes. Every machine is a marvel. Machines race with time. They increase production and productivity. They accelerate speed. Computer is a technological marvel. It is for more qualitative output. It gains us good time it reduces our physical and mental labour.

The first electronic automatic computer was made in 1944 by Charles Babbage. Within five decades there has been amazing changes. The developments improved efficiency million fold. Computers have changed the very tenor of life. They contain two broad basic components. These components are Hardware and Software. Hardware is the group of components which make the system work. Software is the type of instructions given. There are two basic types. One is Digital, two Analogue. A digital computer is a counting machine. Floppy disks are used in personal computers. A floppy consists of a system of configuration. It powers the system. We get the information we need.

There are computers in big bus stations and railway stations. They are local area network systems. In big business organisations too, there are LAN (Land Area Network) systems. There are wide area network systems.

In India there are computers in banks. Train, air and bus reservations are through computers. Even in medical shops and telephone booths there are computers. Computer simply the procedures and speed up the work. Even voluminous books and files reduced into floppies.

Industrial revolution accelerates mechanisation. Computers speed up our progress. Manual labour is replaced by machine labour. Communication satellites are linked to the computers. Computers are for creativity and compactness.
